Recently I have been talking with some friends about how we can get plugged into the Lincoln community, meet more people, and make a positive impact in our area. We’ve been looking at volunteer groups, mentor programs and everything in between. Yesterday my friend emailed me a link to some fun groups designed for “20somethings” at the Lincoln Berean church. One of them is called “Guerrilla Gardening”. Basically people meet up and plant an entire garden overnight helping to make the community a more beautiful place! How fun is that! I am a big fan of random acts of happiness! :)
You can read the full description of the group below:
Wednesdays (bi-weekly) 7pm ish Leader: Clint Runge
Guerrilla gardening is a movement of young people in various cities who want to radically green their communities. It’s more action that discussion. It’s literally planting a garden in the middle of the city when nobody is looking!
Our group will be dedicated to changing the way Lincoln looks through three rogue-but-planned overnight transformations of blighted city areas. Together we will identify, plan and plant three new gardens/landscapes in the middle of the night in the hopes of brightening somebody’s day. When they see it on their way home from work, it’s typical. When they pass it on their way to work the next morning, it’s beautiful.
We’ll change a few small places people have forgotten or accepted at filth into something fruitful as a part of bringing more good into the world.

You don’t have to be a gardener to join, just somebody who has the energy and passion to do something positive with Spring in the air.
Start date: March 14th
I’m not sure I can remember the last time I went on a girls trip with my friends. College maybe?? Well that is about to change because this weekend my friends and I are headed to Kansas City to celebrate St. Patty’s Day!
Usually my friends and I try to catch up over rushed coffee dates, phone calls squeezed into our hectic lives, or text messages simply to remind each other we are still alive. This weekend will be a much needed break from that. We will all be able to sit down and have true conversation without feeling hurried to squeeze the most important things in before we jet off.
This weekend is also a great excuse to wear something besides workout clothes! My shoe collection has been feeling neglected the past few months so I’ve decided to dust off some strappy gladiator heels and a dress (although it still doesn’t feel natural to be packing for 80 degree weather in March!)!
Let the weekend begin!
